Summer tip part 2: Icing and cooling for hot days!

When the summer heat gets intense, it is extra important to stay cool. Marta from Elsa, gives her best tips for icy drinks and ice creams this summer.

Marta: I love the sun and heat but sometimes it just gets too hot. Usually I do not have a cold sea to dive into, instead I make myself a really good and cooling drink! Actually, I take a little of what can be found at home, the trick here is a lot (!!) of ice cubes in the glass. Here are some of my super easy go-to recipes:

  • Ice coffee: 1-2 espresso shots + 2 dl cold oat milk, at least 5-6 ice cubes

  • Ice chocolate: 1 large tablespoon cocoa (preferably raw, it is a little sweeter), 2 dl cold oat milk, 1 teaspoon honey, at least 5-6 ice cubes

  • Ice elder lemonade: A good elderberry syrup (eg from Brunneby), the juice of 2-3 lime wedges, lots of ice.

I also take the opportunity to suggest something I myself will try this year - “eat your way through the whole assortment of ice cream”! Do as follows:

1. Choose an ice cream place in a strategic place (ie close to where you spend a lot of time this summer)

2. Go there and buy ice cream often enough to have time to try ALL the flavors this summer (even the ones you think you do not like)

3. Make a note (maybe in Elsa!) of what you thought (eg scale 1-5)

4. When you have tested them all - evaluate and order your favorites!

I intend (among others) to test these:

Let’s do this!
